Winter Modeling Days
- to
Whether at Christmas markets or in the elaborately decorated shop windows of large department stores - the model railway is simply a part of the Christmas season. Small versions of it were found in many German households in the 1980s. These were traditionally set up for the holidays and it was not uncommon for parcels with new wagons and accessories to be found under the festively decorated Christmas tree. Model making continues to fascinate us. It is not uncommon for the sight of a lovingly designed railway system to awaken childhood memories. Others still love it because the hobby doesn't go out of fashion and its versatility offers the right kit for every fan.
The Speyer Association for the History of Aviation in the Palatinate (VFLP e.V.) is dedicated to model building in a wide variety of areas. For many years he has been presenting the Easter model making days in the Technik Museum Speyer. For the second time, the VFLP e.V. event is creating a pre-Christmas model building atmosphere: the winter model building day. On Saturday 16 and Sunday, 17 November 2024 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., various model builders will present their most beautiful pieces in the spacious space hall. There are Christmas cars, winter vehicles and of course model railways. "As a model maker it's nice to work on a new kit at home, but exhibitions and fairs are also part of the hobby. After a long dry spell, we are extremely happy to finally be able to exhibit in the museum again and to share our hobby with interested parties," says Hanspeter Heger, board member of VFLP e.V.
