Lecture by Astronaut Mark Lee

  •  Space Summer

On Saturday, August 8, 2026, Speyer's Space Summer will be enriched by a special highlight: NASA astronaut Mark Lee will visit our space exhibition "Apollo and Beyond" and take visitors on a fascinating journey into the world of space exploration.

From 2:00 p.m. to approximately 4:00 p.m., the astronaut will speak at the FORUM Cinema about his four spectacular space missions and offer personal insights into the life of an astronaut. Guests can look forward to exciting stories, emotional moments, and breathtaking images from space.

Following his presentation, there will be a panel discussion with Gerhard Daum, our curator and head of the space exhibition. Afterward, visitors will have the opportunity to ask Mark Lee questions directly. Children up to 14 years of age will also have the chance to have their picture taken with the astronaut.

Admission to the event is possible with a valid ticket to the Speyer Technology Museum. As seating is limited, we recommend arriving early. Doors open at 1:40 p.m. The event will be held in English.

Mark Lee is a colonel in the U.S. Air Force and one of NASA's most experienced astronauts. Between 1989 and 1997, he flew into space four times aboard the space shuttles Atlantis, Endeavour, and Discovery. During this time, he spent over 32 days in space, orbited the Earth 516 times, and performed four spacewalks.

We are delighted to welcome Mark Lee to Speyer and look forward to sharing an unforgettable afternoon filled with space history, inspiration, and wonder with our guests.
