25 years Spacelab D-2 mission

Technik Museum Speyer celebrates the 25th anniversary of the German Spaceflight Mission Spacelab D-2

Mission presentation and panel discussion with 6 astronauts on May 1, 2018 in Europe's largest space exhibition "Apollo and Beyond"

A moonstone, the space shuttle, Soyuz landing capsule or numerous space suits are just a few of the approximately 600 exhibits on display at Europe's largest space exhibition "Apollo and Beyond" at the Technik Museum Speyer. For nearly 10 years now, the museum has been the focal point for astronauts and cosmonauts all over the world including Alexander Gerst or Buzz Aldrin. Further to the extensive collection on manned space flight, visitors can experience space directly during lectures or panel discussions. To date, over 40 astronauts have attended these unique events, which the museum holds several times a year.

On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the STS-55/Spacelab D-2 mission, 6 members of the crew will visit Speyer on May 1, 2018 to talk about the mission and share their experiences in space. Guests include the German astronauts Hans Schlegel and Ulrich Walter, as well as US astronauts Tom Henricks, Jerry Ross, Charles Precourt and Bernard Harris. The presentation, followed by a panel discussion, will start at 3PM at the museum's Space Hall. Please be advised that there are limited seats available. The program is included in the regular entrance fee and will probably end around 5.30PM.
