Lancia Lambda

The Lancia firm was founded in 1906 by Vincenzo Lancia who had participated before in numerous races for Fiat. The brand stands for decidedly sporty and yet comfortable sedans of best Italien vintage. Today Lancia belongs to the Fiat group. Up to WW II Lancia designed a great number of models the technology of which was far ahead of their time. Lancia automobiles were intended for customers who were veritable technology fans. A milestone in the company´s long-standing history is the Lancia Lambda whose series production was startet in 1922.

This car was built to combine all technological achievements available at that time. This remarkable vehicle then already had self-supporting body work, and independent front suspension with struts and a V4-engine with a highly acute-angled cylinder arrangement. During the production period from 1922 trough 1932 about 13,000 Lambdas, subdivided into nine series, were built. The museum´s exhibit is from the year 1926. The 4-cylinder engine has a capacity of 2370 ccm generating 59 hp. The top speed it at about 115 km/h.
